I recently had a group lunch with the President of my company at Bogamari Cucina Marinara.
Bogamari Cucina Marinara is housed in a small, wooden house, which mirrors the atmosphere you would get at a trattoria in any rural port town fish market in Italy.
For a very reasonable price of 1100yen, their lunch set includes bread basket, antipastino, pasta, granita and coffee.
Pasta choice is a limited - you will have to choose between two pasta choices, which changes daily.
Very simple selection of top quality and seasonal antipasti mix.
I have been here for lunch two times so far, and both times the pasta was perfect - firm, chewy and almost crunchy with a slight nutty taste. Pasta has to be cooked al dente to be truly Italian.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of pasta (especially in Japan or Singapore) because the pasta tends to be overcooked and soggy and I feel that is a terrible waste to allocate a portion of my precious daily calories allowance for bad food.
However, I am happy to report my lunch at Bogmari Cucina Marinara was calories well spent.
Bogmari Cucina Marinara is actually also very popular for its seafood - they do not have a fixed menu, but freshly caught seafood - shipped directly from ports across Japan, line their glass showcase, and you can pick what you want and have them prepare it to your liking.
A very personal dining experience!
