Kitasando: Wrapped Crepe Korot (コロット)
Summary: Adorable, palm-sized desserts that leaves you craving for more.
Today, I would like to introduce Wrapped Crepe Korot, a Japanese sweets shop specialising in, well, wrapped crepes.
I dropped by their original shop at Kitasando.
Their glass display was lined with mini sized wrapped crepes with an assortment of different fillings, such as chocolate banana, chocolate cookie, rare cheese and even Japanese style kuromitsu matcha karabimochi.
Right now, they have ten different flavours, but their mon blanc crepe (chestnut, not the pen) and apple mascarpone cheese crepe is seasonal.
There were so many different flavours, and it was really difficult for me to decide on just one flavour.
I was planning to get their top seller, which was their chocolate banana crepe, but chose their apple and mascarpone cheese in the end because it was a limited edition flavour.
I would have definitely gotten at least three of these mini wrapped crepes, but I knew I had to save my stomach for my dinner appointment afterwards.
Their crepes is light and minimally sweet with a chewy, mochi-like texture.
The ingredients like flour, milk, eggs, are mixed over a long period of time to create the foundation of the batter. The batter is then carefully cooked to its fluffy and chewy texture.
The whipped cream is well balanced in its sweetness, and is wrapped lovingly together with fresh fruits one by one by hand.
The end result is a light and fluffy but creamy and moist palm size dessert.
I slowly ate my crepe, savouring every bite. I really wish I had at least bought one more crepe...
This is definitely one of my recommended Japanese snacks. Simple but tasty, and prices are also very reasonable, ranging from 160yen ~ 220yen.
Wrapped Crepe Korot's mini wrapped crepes will definitely have you craving for more after finishing your first piece.
Korot currently has a total of 17 different branches across Japan, as well as limited period pop up stores.
