Kyobashi: SOFIA (ソフィア)

Summary: Good value for money, delicious Bulgarian lunch with salad bar buffet!

Back when I was still working at Kyobashi, one of the restaurants I would frequent was SOFIA.
It was one of the places I would visit whenever I was craving for hearty and volume-ly meal.

SOFIA serves really good value for money lunch sets for 1000yen - it includes a main + all you can eat salad bar and drinks.

Their Salad Bar features items like fresh salads, Snezhanka salad, Taramasalata, meatballs, mishmush (tomato feta cheese scrambled eggs), braised beans, pasta, warm bread, tarator (tahini cold soup) , soy milk yogurt, etc.

You don't normally get so many choices for a salad bar!

Mains are usually a choice between four different items - while there may be some changes, the lunch menu should have home style Bulgarian favourites such as Moussaka, Kavarma, Dolma

mains: dolma (stuffed peppers)

a different visit, same main
While all the mains I have tried so far has been good, I think their dolma (biber dolmasi) is the best!
It is basically stuffed peppers with ground meat and rice, but the stuffing is super flavourful, and the outside peppers soft, tender and juicy.

However, they are only a very limited amount during lunch time, so it is best to come a little earlier if you want to try it.

Despite its low price, food quality here is amazing, which is why this restaurant is always busy with office people from nearby during lunch hours.

I have also been here for their holiday lunch - for 1900yen the set lunch includes antipasto, choice of bread or rice, and a mini dessert plate, along with the usual mains.

3 types of appetiser
main: moussaka
main: kavarma

While their holiday lunch is still good, it is almost the same thing as what you can get during the weekdays, only minus the salad bar.

I would highly recommend those interested to come here during weekdays so you can enjoy their salad bar buffet along with their delicious mains.

It's cheaper than food you can get at Ginza, so for those who are worried about overspending your money, look no further!
