Kagurazaka: Canal Cafe (カナルカフェ)

Places in Tokyo where you can enjoy al fresco dining by the river while appreciating beautiful scenery are rare and few, but thankfully Canal Cafe is one of them. Located in the trendy suburb of Kagurazaka, right near Iidabashi station, Canal Cafe is an Italian restaurant cum cafe that is perfect for soaking up Kagurazaka's laid back atmosphere.
I have been here both in the day and the night time, and both times I had an enjoyable cafe time while enjoying the river scenes.
The cafe is self service - buy from the counter and bring your goods to your favorite seat by the deck.
A little further in the cafe, you will find a spacious deck, overlooking the canal.
Loads of flora line the walkway, giving it a garden terrace feel.
During spring time, if you are lucky enough to get a seat, the river is lined with cherry trees in full bloom.
There are also rental boats available depending on the season if you interested in rowing a boat down the stream for some exercise. Prices start from 600yen for 30 minutes (seats 1 -3 people).
I definitely recommend this cafe for a budget-friendly intimate date with your loved ones, or just chilling out with your friends.

I have never been to the restaurant side, but I heard that their napoli style pizza is one of their specialties. Besides pizza, they also serve assortments of appetizers and fresh seafood and seasonal vegetable dishes.
The cafe counter serves coffee/tea, alcohol, small bites like cheese, smoked salmon and liver pate, and original desserts and sweets handcrafted by their Chief Patissier from France.
If you are looking for something more filling, the cafe also serves light meals like pasta, pizza, paninis and curry.

We came here after dinner, so we decided to get a some light desserts and coffee.
My muffin was moist and very tasty, and the drinks were good too.
I really had a good time catching up with my friend.
