Ginza: Ore no French (俺のフレンチ)

Summary: Come here to try Michelin-standard food usually served at fancy pansy restaurants at a fraction of the price.

If you haven’t visited any of the Oreno (俺の) franchise restaurants, I suggest you do so, because you might be missing out on one of the most popular restaurant chains in Japan right now.

"Ore-no" means "my", so the store name for example "Ore-no French" means "My French".

The concept of this restaurant is to serve top notch food with high quality ingredients that you normally would eat at a luxurious restaurant, at a very affordable price.
The food - gourmet cuisine, prepared to order by chefs headhunted from Michelin-starred restaurants, features premium ingredients such as lobster, foie gras, duck or wagyū beef — all for a target price of 3000yen per head.

Sounds too good to be true? The catch is that you have to stand while you eat, and there is a two-hour time limit on how long you can stay at the restaurant. They also have a limited number of sit down tables, but those tables tend to be snapped up quickly.

Just to warn you, the queues at this chain restaurant can be horrendous, and I have heard that it’s incredibly difficult to make a reservation as their phones are constantly busy.
It is probably best for you to head to the restaurant directly to make a booking, though reservations can only be done up to one month in advance.

My date and I were incredibly lucky to have gone on an unusually quiet afternoon, we were able to get a table without reservation or queuing.

Halfway through our lunch, the big screen projectors in front of the restaurant started a live stream of one of their waiters preparing one of their special crepe desserts.

He was actually making it next to our table, so we were able to take a clear picture of the sharply dressed gentleman in action.

I forgot to mention, but during your meal, Ore no French offers live music performance - when I went they had a pair of ladies (flutist and pianist) playing some classical music for us.

Definitely one of the restaurants I would recommend in Tokyo - where else can you get such high quality food at such reasonable prices???
