Ikebukuro: Milky Way Cafe

Summary: Skip the savoury menu and try their horoscope themed parfaits.

Milky Way Cafe is located in Ikebukuro, an ever bustling entertainment, shopping and dining district. Ikebukuro station handles over a million passengers per day, making it the second busiest railway station surpassed only by Shinjuku Station.

Milky Way Cafe is close by to Sunshine City, a large shopping and entertainment complex not far from the station.
It's a perfect place to hang out if you're tired of walking all day and need a break from all the shopping, this is definitely the perfect place to rest while still enjoying the city.

Like many Japanese restaurants, Milky Way Cafe has a small display window where you can see replicas of the actual dishes.

The actual cafe is located on the second floor.

From the name of the restaurant, and mini plastic food models outside the restaurant you can probably guess that Milky Way is an star-themed café.

The inside feels like a 50s diner. It was like a colorful diner with small star details spread all over the furniture. It felt like one of those theme restaurant you would find in one of Disneyland's area.

It was nearly empty on the day I went.

The cafe sits on the second floor of a building looking down on the busiest pedestrian crossing in Ikebukuro.
I recommend that you ask the waitress to be seated as close as you can to the window area so you can enjoy the view.

The menu has a picture for every item, therefore you don't need to know the Japanese language to find your perfect match.

Every ice cream parfait is inspired by an astrological sign, so if you have a hard time deciding on what dessert to try, you can choose to pick your own sign.

The menu is mostly ice cream parfaits and soda floats but they also have some savory items.

We were quite hungry, and were craving for proper food instead of desserts, so we ordered from their savoury menu.

cafe au lait 590yen
iced coffee 570yen
bbq chicken sandwich800yen
hamburg steak doria 920yen
Food was quite average, very standard.
The servings for their drinks are quite large - I would say its double the size of what you might get at other cafes.

However, I heard that signature parfaits are really good, and I am definitely tempted to try it next time.

Overall, it was a great experience.
The cafe wasn't crowded and we were able to spent a lot of time relaxing.

I would recommend this place if you just want to relax after a long exhausting day exploring Ikebukuro, and really like parfaits.

  1. Select the Dress Material » According to Body Type - Because you can't take a stab at the Churidar Anarkali suits when you get them on the web, so it is imperative to investigate the size diagram and request the suit according to your size. The individuals who have a plumper body ought to decide on straight cut Dress Material since they render a more slender and taller appearance to the wearer. The individuals who have a slender body can choose feathery and erupted Anarkali Churidar so as to add volume to their thin edge.
